This job at The Oaks near Picton consisted of two solar arrays, in not too bad condition overall, but for some strange reason one was prone to lichen. Lichen is like a concrete substance, difficult to remove, fully blocks sunlight and reduces power generation to zero where evident.

The other array was effected with environmental dirt and had bird droppings here and there, easier to clean with no extra labour involved, but still enough to reduce sunlight entering the cells.

The owner of this property realised the lichen was getting worse on the first solar array,  and wanted it completely removed before spreading further.

It took approximatley 1 hour to manually remove, even this seemingly small amount, using our special tools, whilst constantly flushing with pure water.

If this lichen had been left for 1 – 2 years, it may have taken 2-3 hours more to remove.  This would then add significant cost to remove due to the larger surface area effected.

After preparing for the clean, we used our ultra clean purified filtered water, which acts like a natural solvent, to then perform the actual clean. We were able to achieve another top quality result.

These panels will now operate at maximum efficiency once again, and the owner see a saving in electricity bills, due to the improved power gain as a direct result of cleaning.
